The George Washington University at Mount Vernon Campus is located on a 23 acre wooded campus in the Foxhall Road area of northwest Washington, DC, just fifteen minutes by shuttle from the University's main campus at Foggy Bottom.
A break from the hustle and bustle of Foggy Bottom with easy access to all of the resources for which GW and DC are well known. Relax on the Quad with a book and a cup of coffee from the Java City Cafe. Boot up your laptop with free GWireless connectivity in the Ames Dining Hall, Pub, Java City Cafe, Eckles Library, or on the lawn of the Quad, among other locations. Use Eckles Library for a day of reading, writing, or research, with easy access to reference services (less crowded than Gelman).
Attention Tennis Fans, Mt. Vernon Campus has beautiful tennis facilities accessible to GW students. Standard hours of operation for the MVC tennis courts are weekdays from 8am to 10pm and weekends from 8am to 8pm. You only need to show your student GWorld card for free use of the courts. In addition, GW students also get free entry to the outdoor pool at MVC. Pool hours through Labor Day (Monday, September 5) are 12PM-8PM Monday to Friday and 10AM-8PM Saturday and Sunday. After Labor Day, pool hours are 12PM-6PM on Saturday and Sunday (only) for September 10/11 and September 17/18. The pool then closes for the season at close-of-business on September 18.
Mt. Vernon also offers a gymnasium with fitness center, as well as several recreational sports opportunities, including fitness classes and intramural leagues such as dodgeball. For those of you interested in more outdoor activities, equipment is available for FREE rental to GW students. Items include basketballs, frisbees, footballs, volleyballs and net, softballs and bats, soccer balls and cones. Mountain bikes are also available for you to enjoy riding along the C&O Canal or other locations close to the Mount Vernon campus.
